Minecraft out for PlayStation 3 in disc form

The insanely popular world building game makes the strange transition from digital download to disc-based title for the PS3.

Late last year Minecraft hit the PlayStation Network as a digital download with predictable results.

By that, we of course mean that it was insanely popular, garnering more than 1.5 million downloads to date — making it one of the best performing PSN titles.

Of course, if you hate the convenience of a digital download or have refused to hook up your PS3 to the Internet, the good news is that you'll be able to buy Minecraft on disc for the PlayStation 3 from 14 May.

Perhaps a little more exciting is the news that the game will also be coming to PS Vita and PS4. We're not entirely sure when, but Sony is definitely saying "this year".
