Game of Thrones' Westeros is an exotic fantasy world of soaring castles, massive plains, fantastic monsters and terrifying magic. See how, using stunning visual effects, Emmy-award winning VFX studio Pixomondo brings it to life.
It looks real. It feels real. In fact, we were very interested to see just how much of Westeros was built on pixels — and perhaps, even more interested in how much was not. Effects studio Pixomondo recently picked up the Creative Arts Emmy Award for Outstanding Visual Effects — and, based on the showreel below, it's not hard to see why.
What struck us most was how Daenerys' dragons and Melisandre's scary shadow-child were made, starting from a fully articulated skeleton, which was then clad with muscle and skin. It's that level of attention to detail that helps make Game of Thrones such a beautifully made production.
