Get one year of unlimited Pogoplug cloud storage for $39

This Cheapskate exclusive will save you more than 20 percent on a yearlong subscription to the service, which gives you all the cloud space you can eat.

Pogoplug

Just last month I shared a deal on one year of Bitcasa unlimited cloud storage for $69 .

This is less.

Through this weekend, as part of a Cheapskate exclusive deal (woo!), you can get a year of Pogoplug unlimited cloud storage for $39. No file size restrictions, no limits on uploading or downloading, just an endless supply of virtual-hard-drive goodness.

Granted, Bitcasa and Pogoplug are, to a degree, apples and oranges. The former works more like Dropbox on steroids, syncing selected folders and even letting you migrate data off your hard drive and onto your cloud drive.

Pogoplug doesn't sync; rather, you upload documents, media, and the like from your PC or smartphone. In fact, the Pogoplug apps can automatically upload photos from your mobile device, thereby giving you a safe off-site backup. Even so, the lack of sync features limits the service's appeal, at least somewhat.

However, you can stream and share all your stuff with ease. So, for example, if you want to watch a bunch of movies on your iPad but don't have the storage space, just upload them to your Pogoplug drive and stream them. Likewise, you can easily share documents and photos with friends, family members, co-workers, and so on.

Pogoplug normally costs $4.95 per month, which works out to nearly $60 per year. However, you can get it for $49.95 per year if you prepay. So this deal gives you a little more than 20 percent off. Keep in mind, though, that next year you'll be on the hook for $49.95.

That's still quite competitive for unlimited cloud storage. Obviously it would be great if Pogoplug offered sync capabilities, but even without that it's a valuable way to store, share, and stream all your goodies.

Bonus deal: Been eyeballing a Nook HD+? Barnes & Noble just made the deal a little sweeter: get a $50 Nook store credit when you buy a Nook HD+. (Use coupon code 50FREE at checkout.) The Nook HD+, of course, is B&N's lovely 8.9-inch tablet. You can blow that credit on books, apps, movies, and anything else B&N sells for the Nook. My reading recommendations: "Unbroken," by Laura Hillenbrand, and "Gone Girl," by Gillian Flynn.
