For the love of doge: Internet's greatest memes as 3D-printed toys
From defiant anteaters to Grumpy Cat and doge, the Internet's most famous memes can be 3D-printed and ordered for your real-world enjoyment.
The world of 3D printing is full of medical breakthroughs, future homes, and colorful kayaks. It's also full of much less useful, but still highly entertaining, objects. Like a 3D-printed bust of Grumpy Cat which will sit and stare at you, silently disapproving of your very existence.
The bust and a host of other creative 3D meme interpretations can be found on 3D-printing marketplace site Shapeways. Here, Success Kid steps off the Internet and into the real world, his fist clenched in victory. Flappy Bird flies out from the game in all its blocky glory, and the F U Anteater raises its claws in defiance of the world.
For the Redditor you know and love, you can order a $15 Banana Doge for Scale. It won't actually help you determine the scale of things, though, since it's only a few inches tall. It will, however, serve as a great reminder to include a banana in any photo you submit to Reddit.
Perhaps the most disturbing meme product available is a figurine of Twerking Einstein in full-color sandstone, which uses the famous image of Albert Einstein with his tongue sticking out attached to the body of infamous twerker Miley Cyrus. If you can stand to look at this on your desk day in and day out, then you have a stronger stomach than I do.
Most of the meme figurines are under $20. You'll spend more if you want to get a bread cat/toaster kitty pendant rendered in polished bronze steel. It will set you back $50. An anteater done in hand-polished sterling silver will run up a $500 bill, but you'll probably be the only person to ever order it.
Most of the designs are impressively realistic, including the antique-portrait-painting-turned-rapper Joseph Ducreux. A pitch-perfect doge is ideal for the meme-lover with dog allergies. There's no reason the ephemeral nature of the Internet should keep you from holding your favorite meme in the palm of your hand.
