Edward Gorey's The Gashlycrumb Tinies got the video-game treatment in this mash-up by Brent Black, aka Brentalfloss.

As a long-time Edward Gorey fan, it's saddening that the illustrator of the weird and macabre is gone from this world. And it seems we're not alone; many artists of various kinds have attempted his iconic style, to varying effect.

The newest to catch our eye is by Brent Black, whose BioShock lounge song we were so enamoured with a few months ago, and his mates Dan Roth and Andrew Dobson.

Taking on Gorey's The Gashlycrumb Tinies, a morbid alphabet book detailing the gruesome deaths of young children, the trio has created an ABC of video-game deaths, starting with the famous death of Aerith Gainsborough in Final Fantasy VII, and finishing with Zelda (who never actually died, but shhhh).

It was nice to see my favourite Soul Calibur character make an appearance, too.

You can grab a poster of "Game Over Tinies" here for US$14.90.
