Buzz Out Loud 1360: Level 3 vs. Comcast: it's massive

On today's show, once the amazing Benito finally gets the studio in working order, we break down the Level 3 and Comcast battle--no matter how you slice it, it's still very, very, VERY bad for the Web. VERY. Also, Cyber Monday proves, once more, that marketing works. And NASA is apparently set to announce that aliens are walking among us. And we're just buying the Playboy hard drive collection for the storage. --Molly

Hey Buzz Crew,

I’m currently a medical student myself and I just want to reassure Molly that the anti-aging “”miracle”" won’t lead to the zombie apocalypse. What telomerase do is allow for cells to replicate to form new cells, as you see, at the end of each chromosome are where the telomerase is located at. Each time our cells replicate, part of the telomerase is lost up until a certain point and then the cells become senesce and destroyed. This is very important, can you imagine if your cells always continue to replicate…oh wait there is a disease that do that….its called CANCER. Now Molly should be worried about rabies or the Lyssavirus and hopes it never mutates. That sucker infects the central nervous system and in animals causes them to lunge at people’s head and bite them. Why you ask? Rabies replicate in the brain. Funny how that works huh? Now, if that virus figures out a away to bypass our blood-brain barrier and not kill us in the process….hmmm….

Anyway, I thought I would put my two cents in on the science topic. Love the show!

If homeland security wants to start breaking the internet by forcibly changing DNS records for infringing domains they need to realize that there is nothing keeping users from creating and switching to another DNS service. We use DNS because it works but anyone can setup their own DNS server that doesn’t honor the changes requested by DHS.

Darknet here we come!
