App of the Day: Inside the World of Dinosaurs

Inside the World of Dinosaurs, made right here in Australia, opens up a comprehensive and interactive encyclopedia of the prehistoric beasts that so fascinate us — narrated by Stephen Fry.

Welcome to CNET Australia's App of the Day, where you can see some of the coolest, silliest and most useful apps in action.

This is one for the paleophiles out there. With Inside the World of Dinosaurs, you get an interactive dinopedia covering 60 of the giant beasts across the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. Each dinosaur has a full two pages' worth of information, such as size and where they lived, and you can play with animations and 360-degree rotatable models of the dinosaurs. There are even the sounds of dino-roaring, and you can read about some famous dino-hunters — did you know they used to get in full-on feuds about finding bones? — although if reading's not quite your thing, the whole thing is narrated in the plummy tones of Stephen Fry.
