The Grand 2 is built around a 5.25-inch, 720p display, larger but with a lower resolution than the current flagship Galaxy S4 . Beyond that and its 2600mAh battery, the two phones are largely dissimilar, though.

Samsung's latest low-end smartphone runs on a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, but only has 8GB of included flash storage. Thankfully, this can be bumped up with the integrated microSD card slot, which supports cards up to 64GB in size. It doesn't support 4G, but has a dual-SIM slot for using two phone numbers at once.

While its specs are rather limp, the Galaxy Grand 2 seems to be more about the included Samsung software than cutting-edge hardware. It inherits Galaxy family features like the Samsung Hub, S Translator, the ChatON instant messaging service, and runs on the relatively up-to-date Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system.

While Samsung says that the Galaxy Grand 2 will be available in selected regions, we're not sure whether we'll see it coming to Australia. If it were to be made available here, it would join Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 in the large-screen Samsung stable.
