To celebrate the 75th anniversary of The Hobbit last week, actor Andy Serkis took to the stage to reprise his role as Gollum as part of the festivities.

There were tents, live music and whimsical signs: Fulham Palace Gardens, London, was converted into a version of The Shire for the 75th anniversary celebration of JRR Tolkien's beloved novel.

Attending was Lord of the Rings actor Andy Serkis — who, in a move that gave us a few moments of uncomfortable disconnect, dusted off his role as Gollumn for a live reading.

It's quite disconcerting to see the gurgling voice we associate with a creeping, cringing swamp-thing, coming out of the mouth of an actual man ... then hearing that man speak normally a few moments later.
