Instagram has announced via a blog post that its popular social photography network now has 100 million active users each month.

Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom used the announcement to name a few Instagram users who he finds particularly inspiring and impressive.

The company was acquired by Facebook last year, and Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg posted a congratulatory note to Instagram on her Facebook page.

The announcement certainly seems to put to rest any rumours of Instagram users fleeing the service in wake of the famous revision ( and subsequent reversion ) of its terms and services last year.
