Viber is a cross-platform IM and VoIP tool that lets you make free calls and send free messages to other Viber users on your smartphone and then carry on the conversation via chat on your PC. Viber syncs your contacts, messages, and history automatically between your phone and PC, so all you need to do is install Viber's Windows app on your PC and the correct app for your phone (ours is Android), and let Viber do the rest.

Pros

Calls, text, pix: Viber enables HD voice calls, video calls, free text and picture sharing to other Viber users and group conversations. It adds contacts automatically, which saves effort, though some users might prefer more options (see below).

Cross-platform: Viber has versions for Windows (including Windows 8 desktop or mobile), as well as Windows Phone, Android, Mac, iOS, BlackBerry, Bada, and Nokia operating systems. It supports both 3G/4G and Wi-Fi networks.

Improved Windows app: We had no trouble installing and setting up Viber for Windows in our 32-bit Windows Home Premium system. We entered our phone number and an SMS validation code to sync our phone and PC. The whole thing took a few seconds and worked the first time.

Cons

Contact options: The Windows app automatically adds all your Contacts, which is convenient but a bit inflexible.

Data plan: Viber for Windows doesn't work without a smartphone. Viber also uses your phone's data plan to make some calls.

Bottom Line

Viber has some interesting features and is easy to use, and recent releases have made improvements. With more than 200 million users, Viber's base has grown, too. But in the end, most users go with what their crowd uses, so how useful Viber is to you may depend on what your friends, family, and acquaintances use.

Pros
Easy to use A wide selection of emojis Stickers (like emojis but slightly better) It seems to work better with my 13 inch laptop than skype. It doesn't look all blurry from windows zoom.

Pros
I installed Viber because my closest people are using it. It was convenient and user-friendlier than Skype.
Cons
After the most recent automatic update, it stopped working and just crashed. I asked for their help, and the answer was always, "Update to the most recent version", which was not the solution. After much searching, I found out that maybe this application recently has become incompatible with my installed antivirus, Kaspersky. Their solution offered to another user: "Uninstall Kaspersky". I am really sorry, I don't want to uninstall Kaspersky, they must find a way to make their software compatible with Kaspersky. I can't either find a way to stop the application from updating automatically, there is no such information to be found anywhere in their support pages.

-Does not ask for an installation directory. -Pins a shortcut to your taskbar without asking. -Does not work on Windows unless you have a mobile device with the app. What the hell is the point of the Windows version then?! The first two points define this software as malware alone, for me.

Pros
Great application for free messages, calls and video. Also great that there is a desktop PC interface.
Cons
Takes over ENTIRE CONTACTS in phone, you can't just set up the users you want for Viber. Everyone in your phone contact list is added and will see you have Viber too, then be free to hit on you. Many users won't want business contacts on it at all or many of their private contacts, just close friends.
Summary
Was excited to install this, wanted to use it with a dozen or so of my contacts, mainly the international ones. Expected that I could set contacts up like Yahoo, Skype, ICQ etc by adding the ones I wanted, but it took over ALL OF MY CONTACTS on my phone (business & private). When I deleted the ones I didn't want from Viber, it deleted them from the phone contacts as well. What a pain! In the end very disappointed and uninstalled it after less than an hour. Needs more work and thought. For sure it will be a success for many, but not for me.

I have it both on my mob and my pc. When it works .then its not fine, but ok. Supossed to have even free mob calls-and it is free..When it works too

It has to many "days off" and calling to make a Talk is realy lousy
