V. standards
These standards were established by CCITT for modem manufacturers to follow (voluntarily) to ensure compatible speeds, compression, and error correction. These include V.34 (pronounced "v-dot 34"), the standard for 28.8-kbps communication. A minor amendment to one of these standards is designated bis, French for encore. |
