NAK negative acknowledgement When a modem receives a data packet, it sends back a signal to the sending modem. If everything is in order, the signal is an ACK, or acknowledgement. If some of the data is missing or corrupt, the modem sends back a negative acknowledgement, or NAK, which acts as a request to resend the data. |
