Green Book Green Book is the compact disc standard created by Sony and Philips to work on CD-I players. Like most other CD-playing hardware, CD-I players can play back audio CDs (something both Sony and Philips have a vested interest in, since Sony sells CDs, and Philips sells CD-I players). But no other CD-playing platform can make use of Green Book CDs. See also: CD-I
