DIMM dual in-line memory module As you'd expect from its name, a DIMM has a lot more bandwidth than a single in-line memory module (SIMM). It's a small circuit board filled with RAM chips, and its data path is 128 bits wide, making it up to 10 percent faster than a SIMM. DIMMs are prevalent on the Power Mac platform but are also creeping into high-performance systems.
