  • digit1001, WOXY recently relocated to my hometown of Austin and currently operates as an online only station. They still sponsor private events and gatherings similar to a terrestrial radio station, but they're betting their future on the success of online broadcast + their compelling iPhone app.

My friends familiar with WOXY were thrilled to hear of their arrival in our fair city, though time will tell how much revenue they can generate. Meanwhile our local terrestrial stations are melting away more quickly than the Polar icecaps... In reply to: "Apple confirms acquisition of music site Lala"

  • Is it real or is this another hoax? Valebrity.com, a site known for validating celebrity accounts on Twitter, Facebook, etc. as authentic still has no record for @philspector. In reply to: "The fascinating tweets of a murderer? Um, no"

  • Winners & Losers
Provided this case goes to trial & Chinese courts uphold
copyright laws, who are the winners & losers? Obvs, Google and
local Chinese musicians/copyright holders benefit the most. A
long-awaited decision against Baidu would finally help Google to
compete on a level, more legally-sound playing field. I suspect
Yahoo China could suprise GOOG and use their local presence
to overtake the internet giant but this seems unlikely. Meanwhile
Baidu still has the name recognition with older, rural & first-time
internet users in China and will prove a formidable opponent
even without extra-legal downloads of mp3 music.
