  • what about a creative product? biased article
never understood the apple and ipod appeal. this article seems biased to me. its pretty funny that this charles cooper fellow, who is supposed to be tech savvy, can't figure out his mp3 player. but other posters on this site with the same player have no problem.

i hope charles cooper enjoys his kickback check (or maybe they pay cash?) from apple inc.

  • many of your "points" are invalid
"exceptional displays"- anyone can make an LCD. in the case of imac, which has an integarted display, you have to buy another display if you buy a new computer. major disadvantage.

"better integrated"- no doubt they are integrated, they are expensive to work on. most pc boxes can be opened in less than a minute to upgrade or troubleshoot hardware. try doing that with one of these integarted systems. hours of high-priced tech labor on top of your already more expensive hardware.

"built in features like Apple's firewire"- sure apple invented firewire, but its not unique to apple. most every new pc has firewire. in fact apple is moving away from firewire, they now only include usb cables with ipods. the 800mb firewire spec is impressive but essentially useless since few if any hardware components that level of data transfer.

"best of breed multimedia software"- itunes may be simple and elegant, but leaves much to be desired for music encoding and control. it automatically names files in a fixed way when encoded so you cant specify a different way thats better for you. it also supports only a limted number of codecs. not to mention the stupid drm'ed apple format. i just remembered that itunes has a 320kbps "lossless" mp3 encoding setting. everybody knows mp3 is lossy, not lossless, that is very misleading to many dumb people who use itunes.

if the above points aren't enough and you want the reliabality that macs have and windows systems usually don't (without mainainance) try linux. you pick your own reasonably priced hardware and the OS is free.

  • two things...
first developers are just as new to the xbox 360 as everybody else, so they are not putting out their best games yet because they are still learning the system. Current games aren't limited by the hardware, but rather the development (for now anyway). BTW i hope you are comparing the 360 on a hi-def tv, otherwise your comparison is even more worthless.

second, sony is certainly not a leader in quality. sony recalled thousands of power cords for ps2s because they were the wrong spec, and in some cases overheated causing fires. also keep in mind that this was the first production run for a new product. the melting issue was only a few bad apples. i'm all for quality but don't think thers much difference b/w sony and MS game consoles. • i think they always get struck down...
because free speech should not be very regulated at all. then it wouldn't be free anymore. we would have to rename it "government approved speech."

  • haha
you say that kids don't need their parents anymore, yet these same independent kids can be harmed by some violence in a video game.

"In the grand scheme, this is one of the best things our government should be working on."

Once again you made me lol. in the grand scheme of things this is def not what the gov should be working on, if not to reaffirm 1st ammendment.
    rights.

To say that the only good way for parents to have control for their kids is with gov help is a total cop out for the parents. parents have tons of help from uncle sam in drug enforcement and that is working out sooo well (some here think drug risk = video game risk).

i look forward to your response bradely green, aka jjesusfreak01.

  • i agree somewhat...
this isn't just for videogames, but people should keep in mind that age restrictions are always put in place by people that will never be affected by the restrictions, in other words old guys. they may not have young peoples' rights in mind as much as they should.
