Poor little portable Televisions
I have noticed there has been little or no scuttlebutt about the upcoming death of all those little portable LCD televisions that will become worthless. I know that very few (if any) have any sort of A/V input or way to replace the antenna to receive digital signals. Not only will there be another huge pile of toxic tech trash in our future, there will be a rush of eBay auctions selling obsolete pieces of trash. I can smell a smattering yet more legislation offering vouchers for auction winners winning little TVs that display nothing but snow.
Bless America!

p.s. anyone want to buy a portable TV? ;)

Check's in the mail.
Dear Nigerian Despots,
Hello my name is Dirk McGowan and I am representing the 'one laptop per child' organization currently named in your suit. I am the beneficiary of a multi-million dollar grant from the Gates foundation and currently the money is locked up in a foreign charitable trust. I am unable to process the check in the United States, but I hear Nigerian banks are much more lax on international banking regulations which could greatly benefit both of us. I have this cashier's check for $100 million dollars that I can send to you for deposit and let you keep half while sending the other half back to the States. I am willing to let you keep an EXTRA 30 million dollars for your troubles! The check will be coming by UPS and your tracking number is XGFC1C861BLOPPRISCGGSUCKER-1105. I hope to do business with you soon!
suckers...

Lemmings
When mom brought Lemmings home for the Amiga I glued to the machine until I could go no further. One of the most original game ideas of all time. I think there was a verson for virtually every system out there. The Amiga version was by far the best of course! ;)

What a sick world we live in...
The fact that this made any sort of impression on New Yorkers is no surprise. The advent of the web crazed blogger wanna-be web 2.0 $tarbuŠk$ drinkin' iPawd listening apple-toting morons has set society back a few more notches. What a sick world we live in! Who cares about some jerk who sees a woman trying to go about her business and has to broadcast his stalking lust to the world? Amerika has become a voyeur society following in the footsteps of the inbred Brits who can't get enough of snooping in citizens' business. I'm sure there is a reason this guy is single. Perhaps he is the type of guy who steals underwear and sniffs it when he can't get a date.
I hope this guy goes to jail!

CNET has too much web 2.0 on the brain
wow social networking sites are all the rage and everyone that uses a computer is a teenage facebook IM texter blog queen.
I am not sure how much 'stock' the powers at be have in this 'web 2.0 iphone volkswagen living in the Bay Area want to be hip trendy cool' illusion of society but sadly there are fewer interesting and informative articles to choose from due to its constant regurgitation on this site.
some readers out there (whomever they are) used to play chit chat on the 'puter but that was 20 years ago and now we have jobs and we have real money.
some would like to see much less snuggling up to social-networking sites and the adolescent opinions of a socially disconnected sheltered newbie intern and see some news. this is news.cnet.com yes?
I was a teenager once... and no one wanted to hear what I had to say. Generations before me referred to the young as 'stupid kids' and why should we start to care now? The young are morons like we all were 'way back when'. Just do video a search of 'butt rocket' and I rest my case.
Ick, old married guys on facebook...
like OMG... welcome to the internet...

p.s. and since I am old fart I do not have to use punctuation or avoid run-on sentences on the interweb because truthfully I know no one really cares :) it's the internet for Pete's sake how can anyone take it seriously?

and the people win another one
I am glad to hear that source code for detecting criminal behavior is starting to be released in a court of law. I have no respect what-so-ever for drunk driving or drunk drivers. On the other hand if there are no checks and balances for devices that can determine guilt or innocence then some innocent persons can become victims of their own tax-paid justice system.
The fact that the 'breath-o-matic' is based on a z80 microprocessor is a laff at best. They might as well use my commodore 64 playing jumpman...

Did you ever stop and think?
Being in technology all these years I cannot believe that anyone would want to have a chip inserted into their body.
Besides health risks and the constant monitoring there is the little problem of TECHNOLOGY BECOMING OBSOLETE! I cannot buy a laptop without it becoming 'old' in two months, why would I want a chip that will have to be 'upgraded' or replaced every two years to meet the current technology trends?
The chips will go from 11mm to 6mmm and then one or two. Then they will have transmitters, encryption, remote programming and updating software and every time there is an upgrade off to the doctor to get a new one. And who will pay for all this? I mean with all the Americans without health insurance who is going to pay $1ooo dollars per doctor visit to upgrade a tracking chip?
Sure your medical history can be stored but what if you have no medical history other than the chip implant?
Sure if a hurricane or earthquake were to kill me here in Kansas then they could find the part of my body with he chip easier. Like I care if I am dead.
It's like the schmucks that believe when the police fingerprint children 'for their protection in case they are kidnapped' that information is not saved over for when little billy starts smoking pot and his fingerprints match a bag from someone they arrest. sure it's for the children.
Here soon there will be a kidnapping or missing child that is 'found' because of RFID and every ignorant parent in the world will have their child chipped for 'their safety'
Fear will make this work.
