Rather than using a page extension like .html, .php, or .asp, I recommend using clean directory-style URL's e.g. mysite.com/keyword_rich_url/

The benefit of directory-style URLs is that it's platform independent. That way if you ever switch your site from .asp to .php, your URL's in Google's index won't change.

It may seem unlikely that this would ever happen, but I've talked to more than one webmaster who has run into this problem. Sure you can fix it with a 301 redirect, but your rankings could take a hit while your waiting for Google to get the new page into the index.
