So, the enemy develops rockets with reflective mirrors all around them, or some novel rerouting invisibility technology to return the laser beam to the Air Force's 747 and destroy it; or the 747 also has a novel reflective system that returns the beam to the target in a continuous circle to no good end.
I still support developing the airborne laser system now that we have spent billions of dollars on the technology. Nonetheless, I do hope that the scientist and engineers have considered counter evasion technologies.
In the future maybe congress needs to better nail down the known science and potential cost behind these new technologies. As a citizen one wonders about cost over-runs.
The airborne laser could still become a winner. Lets all hope that it is!
