  • Comparing this first iteration of Lively to Second Life or other similar MMO's is akin to comparing Tic-Tac-Toe to Chess; Lively has no ability to create or script content, no virtual economy, and no other avatar activities beyond setting up the look of your avatar & room with with some developer provided content and chat. At best, Lively has put in a future placeholder to resemble a crude likeness of Second Life should they go beyond this first iteration. For what is though, Lively is a surprisingly easy to use virtual 3d chat and will probably pull in more people who don't want to deal with the complexities, cost, or constant technical frustrations of Second Life. I'd love to see Google take over Second Life and send the inept management and technical staff of Linen Labs packing. In reply to: "With Lively, Google tries its own 'Second Life'"

  • My Heart is Not Bleeding
Consistent with the other evidence, the Judge is hardly a Nazi for making a judgement in assuming that the encrypted files were adverse. Certainly the defendant could have revealed the contents of the encrypted files to show the judge was in error, but the raging pedophile advocates and trial lawyer wannabees ignore that salient point in order to wet their pants over the conviction, and bemoan their inability to use encryption as a virtual safe haven. Contrary to popular belief, evidence can be circumstantial and an encrypted file is no more sacrosanct than a paper shredder or a smoking gun in terms of being circumstantial evidence. Pedo's and corporate criminals will need more than than PGP or Bitlocker to avoid the law. Now when it becomes a crime to have encryption software, or when somebody gets convicted soly on the basis of having PGP on their computer, let me know and I'll start bleeding.
