The Last Mile
I keep hearing stories about getting service to "the last mile", but alas... they are just stories. Stories that give us hope and comfort. Stories to make you think it will someday come and ease my neighborhoods technological shortcomings. I can't wait to tell these stories to my children and my children's children to put them to sleep at night.

Make advertisers pay for TV
Let's see... I pay the satelite company a monthly fee. I pay a fee for the TIVO service. Now they expect me to pay (who?) to disable advertising? How about a shift in thinking...
The way I see it, advertising should be forced to subsidize the entire cost of whatever service you get making (basic) cable/satelite free. Only then make us pay a monthly fee to disable advertising.

I pray for high speed.
Yet, they still can't handle the load of https, preventing me from working from my home. I still pray for cable or DSL, at least it is reliable and true high speed. These people who complain about their "slow" cable/DSL connections have no idea.

Lucky them
It's nice to see that they are increasing speeds instead of areas of service. I can't even get broadband where I live and I live 12 miles from the Microsoft campus (Redmond, WA) We are so high tech here in Washington. I have two choices, Direcway (satellite) or dial up. I currently have Direcway and it is "slightly" better than dial up. Thanks for making life better for those who have more choices.

Good for them
Thank god for kids with barely a high school eduacation making it possible. Of course the big automakers can do this. It's more a matter of will the oil companies allow it.

Old School
That god for old technologies. My Reel-to-Reel and DAT recorders are starting to come in handy. At least until the RIAA makes those illegal.

Question?
Since programming code is "written", why can't it just be copyrighted instead? This would appear to make more sense to me.
