SHARP FAILS to support its products
I bought a 45" Aquos LCD TV in January of 2006. Recently it developed a dark line extending across the screen - apparently the LCD driver for that line of pixels failed. Took it to the local authorized repair shop and they told me it requires the entire LCD panel to be replaced. Unfortunately, Sharp does not make nor have any replacement panels in that size, so as stated by Sharp's customer service person, my less-than-2-year-old TV is now "junk". Speaks volumes about Sharp's reliability, IMHO.
Luckily I have a 3rd-party extended warranty so depending on how much they credit me for the TV, I'll be shopping for a new one. THE NEW TV DEFNITELY WON"T BE A SHARP PRODUCT however.
