My comments

  • Intel's desperate
Amd's next releases are going to smoke them further: between quad-core, higher ddr, +5000 speed......

And they'd better pray Cell/Niagare/et al-type processors never make it to desktops, or they're history......

  • No big deal...
While I believe there's no nothing Yahoo does that Google doesn't do better-- or with lesser privacy concerns-- they can make a tidy bundle still on search; and anyhow their focus now is with multimedia and entertaiment: this direction from their ceo, who hails from that arena, is what's rescued Yahoo & as well their not-so great reputation. • Backing a technology obsolete already
Never mind that holographic terabyte is practically here(not just more capacity but faster)-- but just for one movie the capacity is not enough if the movie is long, never mind if you also factor in all the extras, want to use the highest quality formats possible, etc.
As far as blue-ray, that is doomed even more-- by urther delays, pricing, & mainly just the superiority of holographic.
Putting aside data storage & general archiving-- for multimedia purposes i can picture dvd itself becoming obsolete once Wimax & flash are firmly entrenched come down in price. There would be little use for it. In reply to: "Report: Microsoft offers cash incentives for HD-DVD"

  • Very timely, ya bunch of dweebs!
You post this deal on its expiring day! Which Einstein's responsible for this? You might as well not have posted it, so as not to look bad!

  • What were you in for????
    1. That you missed the fact Gates hopped on the web bandwagon late & actually predicted the internet would NEVER take off???

    2. And previous to that you missed the whole brouhaha between the initial Pentium & the Risc processor?????????? Gates actually has held computing back decades since when reneging on porting windows to Risc processors(supercomputer power chips developed back in the 486 days) & sticking with Intel only. Those risc processors have only just now been overtaken in performance by current ones. Imagine if all those years the masses would have had that power. What's even worse though, is that a partial successor to the consortium that developed the risc processor has already developed a Cell processor a few dozen times more powerful than the fastest 64bit currently available. Problem is that OS'es need to be recompiled for it-- so, had MS still been involved, we can surmise that windows would now be working on that, and we'd all get it next year(only the next-gen game consoles will have it in 2006). As it is, only linux is being worked on for it-- come to think of it, MS doesn't even have an os out yet for today's 64bit processors!!
If desktops ever get this processor, it will only be on linux-- likely the masses won't see it if MS keeps its monopolistic domination.

    3. Congratulations on getting released-- but looks like you haven't fully reformed yet: as you're rooting for a modern-day Robin Hood.
"It's very, very easy to be generous with other people's money!!!!!!!" It would be so apropos of you, in light of the time of year, to change your ways: leave the Dark Side & support good folks instead.
