Well... I bet if you used High Speed, you wouldn't have clicked submit 3 times in a row :-) Just kidding.
I'm sure it has to do with the difference in the amount of information passed between the various formats. The amount of data sent through 1.3 cables is significantly more than the 1.1 cables. Some new TV's and Receivers need to get that information at extrenmely quick rates to keep images stabilized and sound synchronized, as well as other tasks. nobody wants their rear speakers in a home theater to be off by half a second from what the screen is displaying.

I have an earlier model Intel Macbook pro with Leopard and I do use more the 3 GB of RAM frequently using Final Cut Studio 2. I'm glad I installed the 4 GB max the notebook can take. In reply to: "Apple debunks Mac Mini, iMac rumor"

What could also be a reason for this gain is the ability for new users to have a full Apple environment while still having their trusty Windows desktop available. I happen to fall into this category. Wanting a new laptop for school, and not blindly buying the latest 'hip' product, I looked at an Apple for a change. I had first-hand experience with the early Vista errors and couldn't afford to have problems on a machine to be used for school. It's been great for me. I find myself using the MacBook more and more and rarely find a need for my Windows machine.
Laptops give buyers the opportunity to try OsX without a full committment, granted that they still have their desktops available and are not replacing machines.

@TheManInDboX: Not all Macs are 3k+. If you want a Mac Pro, then sure, it's easy to hit that mark. But Apple aims its line of iMacs and macbooks to the home users. You can easily get a Mac for under 3k. If you're a student, it's possible to get the base level iMac for under a grand. If you need mor RAM, buy it yourself... it is cheaper that what Apple charges.
I made the choice of my first Apple notebook versus a new Vista notebook. I decided to pay a little more for the stability, plus I'm running XP on it when I need to. I've been very pleased with the transition.

Apple is switching their me@mac.com email extension to me@me.com. If you're interested... don't have to be an apple user to use the webmail, but there are a lot of extras if you are. In reply to: "Yahoo Mail hopes to lure users with 'ymail.com'"

All I really want is IMAP capabilities for free. I'm tired of having to always use a web browser to check my yahoo mail. I don't want to use POP... I like having old emails available when I'm on a different computer. Yahoo is really lacking by not offering IMAP at all, even for Plus mail. Not to be a fanboy or a troll, but if you would have bought your iPod from Apple with the extended Apple warranty (via a store or the intenet) or even bought the extended Apple warranty after you purchased the iPod, Apple does ship a brand new iPod after a defect is found. I did this myself when the hard drive failed in mine. Got a brand new one in the mail in 5 days.
Best Buys warranties ahve always been trouble. They push their employees to sell them because it has an extremely high profit margin. They'll look for every possible way to not perform the work you paid for.
