  • Honestly, all orphaned works should be turned over the public domain. If one cannot find the author through the telephone, physical address, business contacts or internet, how will they ever find them? This is simply making too complicated -- make orphaned books part of the public domain and be done with it already! In reply to: "Google Book settlement faces legal assault"

  • See the that's the problem: their friends are leaving facebook now. I've found myself from using facebook like email to checking it twice week. It's more of a change than the newsfeed because it makes it HARDER TO USE the site. The stories aren't labeled or sorted just dumped there. You can't block individual items. You can't control the flow. It's a mess.

And stopping innovation?! How is THIS innovation? It's just ripping off Twitter! As another poster said if I wanted Twitter, I'd use Twitter.

Furthermore, to the geek squad -- the ones who are stoked about the ability to create filters: NO ONE WANTS TO WASTE TIME CREATING FILTERS! Really, the point of the social networking site is the make it easier to communicate with people, to be a platform that doesn't interfere with communication. Now that the platform is uneven, poking out its head, people are leaving the site for *gasp* other social networking sites.

Like everyone's said: without the USER facebook is nothing.

  • Very few products are going to be competitively cheap with small scale production. Until it takes mass appeal it's going to stay highly priced. Please learn your economics. In reply to: "No X-ray vision needed to see through this wall"

  • My geopolitics professor was talking about investing in this and another technology [lab grown meat or meat in a can] and we totally didn't believe him. Yet, I heard about the meat in a can project last week and now here's the other. He may be a blowhard but at least he does have connections and great investments. • Yes, the Bush administration did so much better with AIG and the other bailouts.
Really, the blame for the downshift in the economy lies squarely on Obama, or O-bomb-a.
The stimulus plan didn't work, AIG is giving away my money, and they are already raising taxes in areas.
This has been a nightmarish 2 months, just imagine 3 or 4 or 5?! In reply to: "Google again delays debut of Project 10^100 ideas"

  • I hate the new layout and I hated the old-new layout. But whereas with the 1st incarnation of myspace 2.0, I dealt with it and it didn't obstruct my use of the site, this FB-Myspace 3.0 layout has ruined the site for me. Truly, I can't find anything. I have 400+ friends on fb and half are from my old college, so I really don't ant to read about every new status for them. I refuse to take a day and make lists, that's insane and a waste of my time within a waste of my time.
I've just noticed I use the site much less often than before the newest change. It's useless now b/c I cannot find anything. Honestly myspace's layout is better than this. Facebook's layout makes me feel like my eyes have ADD. In reply to: "Avira builds better free security in AntiVir 9"

Did I say anything about software? No. I said they design their mobos to go with the processors. With intel and ppc. In reply to: "Want to eliminate Psystar? License Mac OS X"

Apple designs to motherboard and chipsets for their computers. Even if they just modify them from previous designs that makes them a hardware company, not just a assembler. In reply to: "Want to eliminate Psystar? License Mac OS X"

  • You know, humans in general are stupid. Why? It takes incredible crises to occur before they fix a problem. They'll ignore or deny it. But eventually they must deal with. Before you "try" to flame me on this one here's some facts:

New Jersey's Hudson and Passaic Rivers caught on FIRE in the early 20th century. Multiple times.
Road oil [oil sprayed on roads in the west to reduce dust] was contaminated with nuclear waste until children started getting sick in the 1950s
Smog around cities actually killing people

Really, people don't start to do anything until people start dying from it. I think that's idiotic. Especially when you KNOW what's going on [New jersey rivers] and it happens MULTIPLE occasions [fire on water]. In reply to: "Scientist slams newspaper for Google CO2 report"

  • Really, I don't get most of the comments here. They already PAID for the service. It's called a warranty and/or care package which all the major computer companies offer. They should not have to pay more to get work done on their products. American or not. If the consumer cannot understand the rep, they are not getting their service for which they paid. Why don't any of you answer that instead of ranting about people wanting stuff for free, huh? In reply to: "Dear Dell: Customer service should be free"
