Surprise!
I can appreciate the study, but I hardly think anyone with half a brain needs to conduct one to know that competition empowers consumers.

This cable war is getting crazy. And the cable companies are using their franchises as political weapons, the very exclusive franchises, btw, that are in jeopardy!

Getting Everything Wrong
I have concluded that Congress is tremendously ill prepared in virtually every stage of the current communications revolution.
I suspect most members of Congress wouldn't know an iPod from an iron. And they clearly have no idea that current telecom regulations hinder choice for consumers and weigh down our economy.
They are, in some ways, hopeless.

Franchising Fairness Needed
Interesting story ... but it's not going to matter until regulators level the playing field ...

Yes!
Th cable companies appear finally to be feeling the heat. And yet they are still resistant. They will have to go A La Carte once IPTV becomes a legal option in enough big markets.
Big Cable is clutching desperately to a monopoly that does not serve its customers well at all.

De-Regulate
Congress and the states need to fix the nation's telecom laws before we can all benefit from IPTV and video choice. It simply womn't happen, otherwise. The outdated, 1970s-era regulations protect local cable monopolies, prohibit consumer choice and drive up costs. If Congress fixes outdated franchising laws, we'll all be better off.
