apple has done nothign wrong
If I don't have an internet connection and they force the manufacturer of my mp3 player to include only WMP, they are preventing me from choosing one of the other pieces of software that the manufacturer could have included if they weren't forced not to.
Apple, the hardware manufacturer CHOOSES to use iTunes, their own software, as the player/transfer software for the iPod. Microsoft on the other hand, wanted to FORCE independant hardware manufacturers to use ONLY thier software or don't use it at all.
As for the iPod/iTunes thing, should Rio be investigated for including their proprietary software with Rio mp3 players? Should Creative? Should Dell be investigated for including a Dell printer and monitor with a Dell computer? It's a foolish arguement, as you can see.

Apple + iTunes + iPod = proprietary software for a proprietary device
The problem with what M$ does is that they are installed as integral parts of the operating system. Ever try to uninstall IE or Windows Media Player? They're never really gone. With Apple, you can choose not to and easily uninstall anything installed with the operating system. Also, in the case of web browsers, Apple includes Safari, their own browser, and also Internet Explorer.
