- @theqags05 "I never shutdown my windows machine, my desktop or laptop. The only time they get completely shutdown is for restarts after update. If you have a good computer, pc or mac, you shouldn't need to shut them down that often."
Tell that to my notebook. There is a bigger world out there. In reply to: "Five least intuitive things about Windows 8"

- Sadly, going from Windows 7 to 8 is more like going from AmigaOS to Windows 3.1
Why? It isn't, or shouldn't be a major OS change (for pc's).
Growing pains with a side of change "just because".
btw: One of my first tasks was disabling all of the live tiles. After the "newness" wears off, hey are more of a pain in he keister than anything. I find this strange as the widgets on Android work well for me. Perhaps it is the lack of "depth" on these tiles. Too flat.In reply to: "Five least intuitive things about Windows 8"

- Final update (I think ...).
Over all, after using the iPhone 5 for a month, I am both pleased and seriously disappointed. I have no change to my initial assessment.
For such a nice looking device, the durability is shockingly poor. In this short time span, the iPhone is showing wear I would only have expected to see after a year or more. The black anodizing on the phone has held up poorly. I had no choice but to wrap the phone hiding it's good looks. In contrast, after several months, my gNexus shows almost no wear.
Second, with very similar usage, the iPhone 5 uses significantly more data than it's Android counterpart. While initially surprised by this, I suspect it has to do with significant cloud usage. The iPhone cannot store files locally for user access; no readily accessible file system. What may also add to this, the iPhone upon awakening from standby, links and commences using LTE before swapping to my in home wifi.In reply to: "A good improvement over the iPhone 4 but not the 4S"

- Nice. I suspect we will be seeing apps coming out and being upgraded to take advantage of this.
Guess this means my iPad2 and the iPad Mini are both consigned to the "outdated" pile of Apple devices. In reply to: "Analysts: iPad 4's graphics upgrade packs a punch"

- Until recently, once a contract has expired, or even before, you could ask ATT to unlock your handset and they would excluding the iPhone. ATT would direct you to Apple who would send you to ATT who ...
You had to jailbreak and baseband break your iPhone to get it to work on TMo....
That is well beyond two years and for some, they had less than two year contracts courtesy of their employer. In reply to: "Apple sued over deal locking iPhone to AT&T network"

- @aka_TripleB - after your two year contract is up, is your iPhone unlocked?

- Considering I just took about 200 outdoor shots with i5 and gNexus.
Low and behold, no purple haze on gNexus - I'll have to add it.
More than 20% of the i5 photos have it built in - grrrrrrIn reply to: "Flashy photography apps for iOS"

- A follow up to my original regarding the camera.
Pro: takes great pictures though you need to have it on HDR to get the really good photos.
Cons: HDR takes away the rapid point and shoot option. This device definitely suffers from the "purple haze" issue.
I am not a photographer. Just your ordinary take shots and hope they come out well kind of person. I took a number of photos on a trip recently with both my gNexus and iPhone 5. The photos from th i5 were significantly better as expected. However, a number of the photos (about 15% or so) suffered from a purple haze clouding the shot. This did not appear on any of the pics from the gNexus.
Result: the iPhone 5 camera is definitely sub par.In reply to: "A good improvement over the iPhone 4 but not the 4S"
