Comments on: The Real Deal 136: Podcasting

Tom and Rafe talk about how to get podcasts, when we listen to them, and recommend some of our favorites. Tom sucks because he forgot to mention Amateur Traveler and Coverville.

I had to laugh at the comment about forgetting to mention the Amateur Traveler. :-)

I enjoy useing media monkey to download my podcast and i also sync it to my ipod. most of the podcast I listen to come from podiobooks.com. They have a lot of great authors and great books you can download as free podcast. Keep up the good work love the show. Jerry

I can't believe that no one mentioned The Daily Giz Wiz with Dick DeBartolo and Leo Laporte. This is my all time favourite podcast. Number 2 is BOL. I try to listen to those 2 every day. DL.TV and Cranky Geeks are also required listening as is systm and Tekzilla (although the last 4 don't see like podcasts since I have them autodownloaded to my Tivo and watch them with the rest of my recorded show. Tiki Bar is brilliant. Windows Weekly with Paul Thurrott is very good. Mobile Tech Roundup is good if you're into mobile gear. Adam Curry's Daily Source Code is also quite good but really, really long. Of course I enjoy the Real Deal and NASA has some very good podcasts (HD - NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Hubblecast HD, NASACast: Space Shuttle and Space Station Video, etc.)

I'm such a podcast addict. And since I think I'm part of the minority that is less involved with tech, I thought I'd mention some of my favourites...

Politics/News: (okay, keep in mind that I'm a crazy liberal xD so if that's not your cup of tea, ignore ^^:) The Young Turks, Best of the Left, The Rachel Maddow Show, NPR's It's All Politics and Political Rewind, KCRW's Left, Right, and Center, and like you mentioned on the show, Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me (best. gameshow. ever.) as well as Planet Money, which are less political, but still awesome

And since I'm a Mac geek, my tech pretty much consists of MacCast and the MacWorld podcast, both of which give great coverage of news in the Apple world as well as some awesome tips on software and apps for macs and iphone/itouch.

And miscellaneous sort of intellectual stuff, two of my favourites are The Psych Files which is a very entertaining Intro to Psych style podcast... kind of fun if you're interested in psychology or happen to be studying psych in school... and Philosophy Bites which is just a series of interviews on various philosophical/ethical topics that I really enjoy.

But I think I'm definitely going to have to go through this list and add some more to my podcast repertoire, although I'm kind of running out of room on my ipod! xD
