He's had a big day.
It's been a big day for Google Android news, but Verizon's upcoming Droid phone (and the accompanying TV commercial) are only part of the story. T-Mobile put its Cliq handset on preorder and juicy tidbits leaked out from other sources.
- We told you last week that a GSM version of the Motorola Sholes cleared the FCC, but we failed to notice that a CDMA handset also got the government's nod (the FCC ID is IHDP56KC5 instead of IHDP56KC2). The consensus in the tech world is that this device is the Droid. Unfortunately, specs are few and there are no close-up photos on the FCC site just yet.
- Ericsson labs tweeted that we can expect an official announcement Android-powered Sony Ericsson Experia X3 in November. We don't know much about the device for now except that it will offer a Snapdragon QSD8250 chipset, a 1GHz CPU and the new Sony Ericsson Rachel user interface.
- As for new Android players, Engadget and DigiTimes reported that Asus will have an Android handset this year. Asus Chairman Jonney Shih dropped the news at a Taiwan press conference, but didn't offer any details.
- In addition to its hands-on with the Droid, Boy Genius Report also posted screenshots of Android 2.0 aka Eclair. Yummy!

I predict Nokia will also follow the leader , which is going to be Android shortly.
They got a lot of mileage out of Symbian, but they need to transition their Symbian resources to Android ASAP & get some great devices to market...before it is too late.
Android would allow them to stay competitive, in the entry-to-mid-level smartphone range, while buying them time to evolve Maemo for their high-end devices. Maemo could even be adapted to run Android OR Maemo apps, making it even more attractive, as a high-end platform.
The cnet of 10 years ago is gone. Today, you're as good as Fox News.
Print what gets the headlines and hope for hits.
Pathetic article at best.
Keep pumping Apple like you normally do. That seems to be the theme for the last few years.
but take Fox news off the plate troll
Quit being a sheep and repeating what you heard obama and axlerod say...
pmsnbc
cnn
cnbc
all combined have less viewers than fox at any given point in time
fox gives news and opinions from both sides of the aisle
these others propogandist networks just give opinions, call their opinions undisputed facts,
and label any form of disagreement as racist, rightwing, crazy...
With the advent of Android , Iv`e never been so excited about mobiles.

- I was going to make the jump from my G1 to a Motorola Cliq but then I found out yesterday that it will cost me $380.00 to upgrade! I had my G1 on launch day and pre-ordered it the first day it was available as I planned on doing with the Cliq. I think now I will sit it out and try and wait until at least Thanksgiving before jumping in. I hope the Sony Erickson phone with the Snapdragon processor comes to T-mobile. If it does that will be my new phone. Hopefully they will load it with Eclair 2.0. I have 1.6 now in my G1. That was one of the things I didn't care for with the Cliq. Buying a new phone but then not having the newest OS from Day 1 doesn't make much sense.
