The hubbub over Verizon's upcoming Droid smartphone isn't the only Google Android news Monday. T-Mobile also launched a preorder site for its new Motorola Cliq. The handset won't be available to take home until November 2, but you can reserve your Cliq now for $199 with service.

We had a chance to review the Cliq last week and discovered much to like about the handset. The hardware is great and Moto made some welcome interface tweaks to the OS. On the downside, performance wasn't completely perfect and some basic organizer features are missing, but the Cliq makes us hopeful for Android's future. Check out CNET's full Cliq review or sign up for your model with T-Mobile.

If its one thing about Motorola.. they are low when it comes to performance. Let me know if I'm wrong but my 1st cellular phone from 4 years ago was the V551. Yes, I know, its a long time ago in reference to technology right but hear me out. The V551 was a powerful media phone (not a smart phone) Buuuutttt it lacked in reference of performance. Yes, I do realize these two phones are different but Motorola from what i know of slightly lacks when it comes to performance.

I had planned on buying this phone on the 1st day of pre-order. I logged into my T-mobile account and found that they wanted $380.00 for me to upgrade to this phone. I have had my G1 since the day the phone launched. The price premium has led me to wait even though I wanted this phone. Poor battery life and the occasional lag due to my slower processor and no real headphone jack are just a few of the reasons why I was ready to upgrade. After seeing the Sony Ericcson Xperia X3 with its huge screen & Snapdragon processor I'm hoping it will be available on T-mobile before Christmas. That is a phone that I will pay a premium for but this Cliq should be no more than 275-300 for someone re-uping for 2 years that has had their phone for a year.
