Starting today, T-Mobile customers can preorder the carrier's second Google Android phone, the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G. The touch-screen phone is selling for $199.99 with a two-year contract; available colors include white, black, and merlot. The carrier is guaranteeing that preorders will be delivered by August 5, which is when the handset will arrive in retail stores for sale to non-T-Mobile customers.

The MyTouch 3G is a variant of the Google Ion and HTC Magic. Features include stereo Bluetooth, seamless integration with Google apps, Wi-Fi, a digital music player, a 3.2-megapixel camera, quick access to music and application downloads, support for T-Mobile's 3G network, and a broad degree of customization. We'll have a review prior to the MyTouch 3G's general release date, but you can catch our Ion review for a taste of what's to come.

Not that it matters, but actually it's "MyTouch 3G" (not myphone 3g). But yeah, sounds familiar.

perhaps the "mypod touch"? :-)

I dont think people really care..........Not everyone is a iphone clone follower

What a waste! Who wants to order a phone for $200 before they see it and get to really check out the features and it still doesn't sound as good as the iPhone which is now $100. Let's see stupidly order something I haven't seen but have been promised for months and is nowhere near as good as the iPhone or buy the iPhone for $100 and be done with it? Yeah, tough choice. T-Mobile we're done, and it's not me, it's you.

@justeace - you contradict yourself by sayng "...something I haven't seen..." but yet you also claim it "...is nowhere near as good as the iPhone..." please get your story straight, then worry about whether it lines up with the facts, i.e. we have seen this phone in review. Further, each person can decide for themselves whether they like the iPhone or Ion better, they do not need you to tell them what to think. Wouldn't the iPhone speak for itself and not need people like you if it was the "Holy Grail"?

iPhone is such a Terrible Phone on a gimped Network.

Well, its basically the same phone as the G1, and technically the same phone as the Magic and the Ion, which plenty of people have not only seen it, but have actually used. I won't be buying this phone though...I thought I might, but I honestly am more than content with my G1, which I preordered last time.

Also, is it just me or is T-Mobile just bomb about subsidizing brand new phones that us customers are definitely not qualified for yet, without any questions? I resigned my contract in February to make me the name-holder on the account and I am qualified for the myTouch upgrade at $199...Sorry iPhone 3G, who weren't qualified for an upgrade :( gotta really loath AT&T for their inability to deliver to their customers.

What to get? A phone that we know will work as a phone and more or a poor quality product that might catch fire and rarely work as a phone because of terrible service provider? My archaic Samsung from 2003 gets a far better signal than an icantphone. I'm reminded every time I call my brother.

Acutally the MyTouch 3g has been available for several months already. It's called the HTC Magic, and it is exactly the same as the MyTouch. So you can find plenty of reviews of this cellphone already.

@justeace ? it?s not the price of the phone more like what am paying monthly for voice/data plan. I might pay $200 for a phone now but at least I know tmobile plans are not expensive as att.

I think the Iphone is really overhyped. If it were so great it would be selling in other countries as well but that isn't the case. Japan has far superior phones and the Iphone can be had there for free with a 2-year contract.

Japan here The Iphone really is not selling as many as Apple thought. Phones sold in Japan ( mostly) otehr then most Softbank ones) are very very high quility and are made iN japan. ( unlike most Softbank phones..........include iphone as well) Well isa not free in japan here. you have to pay 19,800 worth of agreement with softbank.......2 years is standard contact for all phone companies here in Japan ( for know). Dont even think abot breaking the cotact you rally be sorry.Brewak the phone and you be paying FULL price for a new one. unless you have a protection plan.

This article should have come with a qualifier: "For existing personal accounts only." I've had a business account with T-Mobile for almost eight (8) years. I tried to get the MyTouch on pre-order yesterday but no good: I'm told business accounts are excluded. Come on T-Mobile! Do you really want to alienate your business customers? I'm seriously considering switching carriers.

And people complain about the iphone being on AT&T but at least AT&T has a 3G network which works, has for me anyways. Until the Android platform gets away from T-Mobile it's gonna flounder and not have much growth. The best thing T-Mobile has going is Charles Barkley *cring*

Actually, Android phones are in the works for Verizon and AT&T (among others). The Android OS isn't tied to a specific carrier (or phone) the way the iPhone is.

Still waiting for the HTC Hero. Actually I would want that phone with a physical keyboard.

Basically somebody needs to make me a G2: a multitouch android phone w/ 5+mp camera and physical keyboard. Please? Oh, also don't make a data plan mandatory. Gosh I'm picky.
