This weekend, I received a promotional e-mail message from Starwood hotels, announcing free Sony BMG music downloads as part of a new partnership. After reading a long FAQs page about how I needed Windows Media Player and how they wouldn't play on my Mac, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the downloaded files were MP3s! [Using Molly's I- know-I-can't-believe-it voice:] From Sony! Presumably, DRM-free music from Sony wasn't happening until later this month, but it looks like they're already tearing down the walls. I can't believe I'm saying this, but "way to go, Sony!"

Howdy, all. Just wanted to make sure you saw this post on Download Squad about a new social network desktop tool called 8hands. I think Molly has mentioned something about wanting an "everything-in-one" social tool, and while I only use Facebook, this might be right up your alley.
As always, love the show and gig 'em, Aggies.

Molly, Brain Age is already on the Wii. The second game in the Brain Age series Big Brain Academy came out last year on the Wii. So stop saying you want Brain Age on the Wii, it's already there in the form of Big Brain Academy.
Here is its Gamespot listing.

Last but not least, the wiki is having a logo contest if you want to mention it on the show:

Keep up the good work!

Let me be the first to encourage you and your CES-attending friends to bring your big ol' gadget fest here to Central Florida. We've got more than enough exhibit space (2.1 million square feet in the Orange County Convention Center alone) and plenty of hotel rooms to rest your weary little heads. It's certainly a different vibe here than in LV but I'm sure you can handle the culture-shock.
BTW, many of the attractions in the area parks already have sponsorships in place: Siemens has Spaceship Earth, HP has Mission Space, GM has Test Track and Volkswagen has Revenge of the Mummy at Universal Studios just to name a few, but I'm sure space could be carved out for a few more ("Men in Black" courtesy of Alienware? "The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" brought to you by the Microsoft Vista?)
If any of y'all ever get down this way for CES or any other trade shows, drop me a line and I can get you the hookup on park tickets.

As host of the Buzz Report video series, Molly provides a fresh and funny perspective on the latest consumer electronic products to hit the market, as well as commentary on the stories and development that she thinks are truly buzz-worthy. She is also co-host of Buzz Out Loud, CNET's "podcast of indeterminate length," which entertains listeners with a funny and skeptical take on the day's technology news. Her other podcast, Gadgettes, is proof that girls can be geeks too.

Tom Merritt appears on
CNET TV, specializing in help and how-to and the ever popular Top 5
lists. He also co-hosts CNET's The Real Deal podcast.
Jason Howell can
often be found producing Buzz Out Loud from the audio studios at CNET,
updating XML feeds from the comfort of his cubicle, and saying "uh-oh"
from time to time.

How long does it take for the DVD Jon's of this world to break down software that often had tens and hundreds of milions of dollars invested in?
This is the siren song of the status quo calling for you. "I" can do it. "Our" solution is foolproof. How many boardrooms resound from successful investment sales pitches touting that THEIR answer will be the one.
Pirate Bay is working on their own protocol which will rely on encryption as well as other end to end encryption projects. And the dance will continue.
I really dont care what happens to big studio movie industry just as I dont care about Jay-Z, Britney or Fiddy and the star system of mediocrity that it is spawned from. Double amputee leather bondage gear holds as much appeal to me as the business model the **AA promotes so I dont see why my use of technology should be limited because their busines model does not work in the digital age.
How much do you want to bet that imposing this on the ISPs to do the **AA jobs for them will end up costing the consumers?
Go back to the advent of the talkies and you will find similiarities as people who banked on the old format too much were the big losers.
There will always be a technical solution that the **AA will push (this way they push it on the ISP who get to deal with the costs and consumer disatisfaction) and its the same useless cat and mouse game that we see in sports and doping (they catch 6 athletes out of 14,000 athletes at the Olympics and 1 out of 150 bodybuilders at the Mr. Universe).
All those 'technological solutions' end up making it hard for me to consume media how I want it. To use technology how I want it.
New technology should make my life easier.
Not harder.
And ESPECIALLY not more expensive.
(Im a cheap Gnu/Linux hairy bastard)
The rants were strongly worded yet insightful. The complicity between Molly and Tom was palpable. The arguments were thoughtful and honest...
Anthology piece!
Plus: Did I hear Molly congratulate Steve Jobs on his ability to wow the press? All this when members of the press have become so blasé that they don't get impressed so easily?
Sounds like Jobs's (in)famous RDF is having preemptive effects on the Buzzette. Too bad those effects won't last until our favorite Buzzards start recording show 640...
Steve Jobs is not a suicide to announce the notebook that mimics Nintendo DS - Japan market is exclusive as for innovations and Apple knows it.
