On today's show, we rush you along so we can go watch the San Francisco Giants ticker-tape parade. But in actual tech news, Silicon Valley fails to take over California politics, Google's really sorry about the whole Buzz thing, but not in a "pay you" kind of way, and if you're a Rangers fan, we now have the technology to erase that painful memory from your brain. --Molly

James: mix tape
There was a point in my life in the not too distant past where I had an epic fail (possibly a win) making a mix tape. I was dating a girl and things weren’t going too great at the time. Her birthday was coming up and I thought it would be a nice idea to make her a mix and maybe it would help the relationship. Well I got busy and I couldn’t put a ton of effort into it. I made a smart playlist in itunes of my most played songs within a month of her birthday and selecting one song by each artist and limiting it to about 15 songs. It was lazy I know and what’s worse is I didn’t listen to it before I gave it to her. When she listened to it she realized they were mostly break up songs. She didn’t like it and we broke up soon after, thankfully. I share this epic failure to caution others to be wise in their mix making. A mix can bring love or take love, mix with care.
Love the show

Just thought I’d let you guys know about my horrific experience with a mix tape. So theres this girl I was in to for a while so i figured hey why not make her a mix CD and see how she reacts. Of course, she was all like, “Oh man these songs are awesome!,” so I thought, “YES I’m in.” But, to my dismay, after hanging out with her a few times nothing came of the situation. Little did I know, she was also hanging out with my best friend at the same time. They’re now engaged. FML, right? All kidding aside, it’s really no problem I’m actually really happy for them both.
HERE COMES THE ICING ON THE CAKE.
A couple of weeks ago we were cleaning out the buddies car because he was getting a new Jeep. He had a bunch of old CD’s thrown about his car and as we came across each one we would play them to see what was on them. I picked one up that had a custom label on it, the label having pictures of them and his name with a heart next to his name. I threw the CD in the dash and, to my astonishment, it was THE EXACT SAME CD I HAD MADE FOR HER. Just with a label on it now.
Guess it was a good mix tape though?
