BOL 1043: Nobody wants gummi gas
A caller wonders what happens to the Chevy Volt if you have the gas in there too long. Does the gas go bad? Well, it could get gummy. And nobody wants gummy gas. or gummi gas either. Not tasty. We also take the SEC conference to task for trying to ban Twitter and photos during their football games. Seriously? Also China got a Dell phone. But will they want it?

Hey guys –
Just in case it’s been a slow news weekend, this press release from Purdue discusses the development of the world’s smallest laser called a “spaser”. This spaser, unlike current lasers, is small enough to be embedded in an electronic chip. In terms of future gadgetry spawning from this development, scientists hinted at consumer electronics using light, instead of electrons, to pass on information as well as “hyperlenses” capable of seeing DNA. On the other side of the spectrum, I imagine we could expect more powerful sensors in digital cameras to take better pictures of Aunt Myrtle too.

Hey Guys,
I know it’s been a while since you last talked about this, but today gizmodo posted a British anti-texting while driving ad to be shown around the country, especially in schools. Though gruesome and horrifying, I think it’s the only effective way to show the prevalence of this phenomena and the ease with which people can lose their lives and threaten the lives of others. What do you think about it ?

Love the show and keep up the great work.

Hi Buzz Crew,
On yesterday's show (BOL 1041) you were talking about the total flex fuel and I can guarantee that this is an excellent option. Here in Brazil the sugarcane biofuel cars exits since the 80's and my father had one whem I was a kid. Now I have a 2007 Volkswagen Gol that is total flex (using gasoline and biofuel) and I only used gas two times since it's buying. The car works great, the biofuel price is lower than gas and great car companies like Ford, Renault, GM and Honda sell total flex cars here. I don't understand why it is so difficult for this technology to get in the US.
Just sharing the way things are going here. Love the show

They reacted quickly to the backlash, and even asked for suggestions on a revenue model. I guess i forgive them.
From friday's blog post at:
http://blog.digsby.com/
Lack of Information
While the installer is quite obvious since you use it to install Digsby, the Research Module is not obvious to new users. An article describing these revenue models was published yesterday on LifeHacker and most of the people commenting on the article did not know about it since they don?t follow our blog and don?t read the Terms of Service shown in the installer.
We are pushing out a release later today that will include the following changes:
* We are moving the entire ?Support Digsby? section out of the ?Help? menu and into the preferences window so the option to enable/disable the research module is easier to find
* Digsby will show a popup notification telling you about the module with a ?Learn More? button which links to a page describing it in detail including instructions for how to enable/disable it. The popup will be ?sticky? so it will not disappear until you click ?Learn More? or ?Close? to ensure that users don?t accidentally miss it.
We want to make it completely clear to all users so Digsby is not doing anything you don?t want it to do. The above changes have been on our to do list but the article really opened our eyes about how few people know about this functionality. Our goal is to create the world?s best IM client and social media tool. The only way to accomplish that goal is with transparency and communication so we can keep working with you to make a better product.
(love the show)

If CBS sports wants help enforcing this to report those who are tweeting, they need to give us a number to report infractions.
Next, we need to take care of those pesky NASCAR fans.....

- Molly is right, the British film can have an impact about texting & driving. In my day the push was to wear a seatbelt . As a young teenager, my school showed a film just like you were describing and I still remember it vividly today. The officer described the grusome details of a late night car crash where no seatbelts were worn. He gave every detail about how this one teenager died at the scene after she flew through the windshield. He even described the trauma of informing the parents. I hope they start to use a film like the British have in all schools in America.
