After much thought and discussion, we here at BOL have decided to change the focus of the show from technology to carpentry. We think you're going to like it. Also, botnets 2.0 strike fear into our collective hearts, new cloaking technology seems awesome until Rafe buzzkills it, and it's my last day as a full-time host on BOL. See you in two Mondays!

Hi all. I am not a famous person. I have never voted for an idol. I’ve
only been an AT&T customer for 3 weeks so I’ve only managed to send
less than 100 txt messages - not a heavy texter. Even after all that,
I still got the American idol spam txt yesterday. You guys made me
feel like I’m a “somebody”. Thanks!

Peter on the train in Chicago

**********

Hi BOL Crew, Long time first time, At&T said they were sending these texts to “heavy texters” and people who had voted for American Idol in the past. I fit in to both categories. I have voted twice from my phone and my sister, my mother, and myself send 8000, 5000, & 4000 texts a month respectivly. I’m a little hurt i didn’t get a message. :’( Love the show.

As host of the Buzz Report video series, Molly provides a fresh and funny perspective on the latest consumer electronic products to hit the market, as well as commentary on the stories and development that she thinks are truly buzz-worthy. She is also co-host of Buzz Out Loud, CNET's "podcast of indeterminate length," which entertains listeners with a funny and skeptical take on the day's technology news. Her other podcast, Gadgettes, is proof that girls can be geeks too.

I really don't mean to be mean but *** is up with the choice of Natalie as the new co-host? She's great eye candy but seriously, I question her chops as a tech enthusiast, every time I hear her comment on something I feel as if I just lost an IQ point. Rafe or Cooley are much better choices....

I totally agree with you. Natalie is not a good replacement for Molly. I hate listening to either Rafe or Cooley but they would be better on the show. I feel like JAMOTO just pulled a McCain on us and just choose a female that looked good and might spike the ratings. I will give this new JANATO a try but the expectation levels are low.

Does anybody understand that at this time, BOL is primarily an AUDIO podcast? Who cares if she is or isn't "eye candy".
Or Is an attractive female can't have a brain? I don't find that on "Loaded" doesn't seem to lower my IQ. Nor have I found her participation on BOL to be distracting. She has been in the tech field for quite some time and I think it would be appropriate to give her a chance to settle in for a while before you trash her.

A sad day indeed, and I agree with you. Although I have listened to every BOL for at least the last two years, I don't think I will be as likely to bother in the future.
:-(

What?!
You replace Molly with Natalie?!
Come on... Molly is the heart of this show and no one will be able to replace it.
You're simply destroying the best tech show with this switch...
Too sad - just another one bust to dust :(
by morphined January 19, 2009 2:44 PM PST
I have to agree as well. Natalie is great on Loaded, but she just isn't a good fit for BOL - I'd much rather they continue the rotating co-hosts, maybe even expand to include a few others we don't hear as often. I was already finding myself loathe to finish (or just deleting) the podcasts she was guesting on, and then to come to find out she's the new daily replacement?!? :(

OK Now you guys pissed me off!!
You rant about paying an extra $10 for something in the store. That store put people to work, pays utility bills, pays property taxes, SS Taxes etc. That online store doesn't have most of that overhead. It should be a lot cheaper! Plus you talk about not paying sales tax online. You are suppose to pay the sales tax when you file your taxes, if you're not your in violation of the Tax Code. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for ranting about all the lost jobs in one breath and then buying online to save a few bucks in the next!

/rant

I am the Grand-daughter of a small business owner struggling to keep it open because more and more people think like you guys do!

I've been using an Intel Mac Mini as a media center PC for over a year and find it to be a far more elegant solution than an Apple TV. With Plex or VLC, it'll play pretty much anything I throw at it (MKV, WMV, XVid,M4V, MP4, MOV) all in HD.

I don't like Natalie at all. She pretends all niceness and sweatness, but you don't get ahead in the publishing/internet fiedl without claws. Most of what she says doesn't make any sense and she is really, really altogether too, too PC. If that's what CBS or NBC is turning CNET into then the sinergy of using CNET to market certain goods and other corruption won't be far behind.

I do like Cooly, anyone that has a sense of humor which Natalie doesn't at all. I predict she'll be replace soon with someone else just as PC, but with a sense a humor.

Whatever,
Traaxx

I only started listening to this show a year ago but I just loved listening to the hosts wry take on technology. There's something missing with the new show lineup - Molly! Please bring her back.
