Optimus 4X HD review: Our favorite LG phone yet

With its Tegra 3 quad-core processor and terrific 4.7-inch True HD IPS display, we dig the LG Optimus 4X HD.

The LG Optimus 4X HD is a grand-slam winner

Recently, I haven't been so impressed with a string of LG phones. Though a lot of them are good, solid handsets, none of them have wowed me.

That is, until now.

I mentioned the LG Optimus 4X HD back in February, when it was going by the name LG X3. It was rumored to have a quad-core CPU and I'm glad the rumors were true.

Its 1.5GHz Tegra 3 quad-core processor from Nvidia makes it impressively snappy. Not only does it launch and quit graphics-heavy gaming apps like nobody's business, but the 8-megapixel camera is stupid fast. You can hold down the shutter button and the camera will quickly take one photo after another. Keep in mind that this is different from automated continuous shooting, which the handset can also do with ease.

In addition, the device runs on Android 4.0, has NFC-capabilities like Android Beam, and has a gorgeous 4.7-inch True HD IPS display.

One drawback, however, is that it's only available in Europe for now. Though it will be sold in Asia and Central and South America, we've yet to hear word of a U.S. release. For more, read my full review of the Optimus 4X HD.
