If the rumors are true, we might finally be seeing the LG Chocolate Touch VX8575 for Verizon as soon as next week. Leaked sources have informed Engadget that the phone will be announced November 5, while we've seen a few comments on Boy Genius Report that say it might come out either on the 5th or the 6th.

The phone, if you'll recall, is the touch-screen version of the famous Chocolate brand, and looks nothing like the LG BL40 that debuted in Europe not too long ago. In fact, it looks little more than a refresh of the LG Dare. Still, we'll withhold judgment until we've actually seen the device.

Some expected features include a HTML browser, a 3.2-megapixel camera, EV-DO Revision 0, and GPS with VZ Navigator. No official word on the pricing or the launch date, but we'll let you know once we have it.

Update: We've heard from PhoneArena that the phone will be $79.99 with a two-year agreement.

Thanks for making me laugh so early in the morning, guymatrin. As a Verizon customer for the last 4 years, I pretty much muttered your sentiments when I read the specs. It's as if Verizon said "Eh, we might as well throw it out there and milk it for all we can..."

No Android, no WinMo, not even Opera browser. Yikes. I've been using Verizon's browser for years and can't say anything positive about it, except "Uh, it works." If that counts as a positive.

Irregardless, I would have preferred the European version. Keep hope alive?

@ guymatrin

It's probably because their new regulations would have this phone require data if it was Rev. A. Ah-business preventing more business.

"Irregardless" is not a word.

Prices released. $79.99 after $50 rebate with 2 year contract.

They are using EV-DO Rev 0 so it is not classified as an Enhanced Multimedia Phone that requires a data plan.

Price sounds great...but sadly the last info I read about this was that it will be an Enhanced multimedia Phone that requires the new data plan like the Samsung Rogue. Looks like what I predicted is coming true, if your a verizon customer and you want a new high end phone you will be paying for a data plan. If you don't want to pay a data plan you'll be buying the traditional flip phone that has a 2mp camera or less, maybe bluetooth, with maybe video and probably the cheapest design possible. I know smartphones are popular these days, but keep smartphones smartphones, don't create some in-between thing just to make extra money. Also the new data plan is a joke as they don't even offer an unlimited option. 75mb is not alot and if I'm going to buy a phone with web browsing and email etc, I'm just going to buy a smartphone and pay the extra 10 dollars for unlimited data, not something with half azz features. Seems like the LG Dare that I have will be the last high end phone I'll get from verizon unless I give in and spend an extra 10-20 dollars a month for features that I might not even use.

Why would anyone buy a smart phone and not pay for the data plan?
