Ep. 629: Where there must be some magic clue inside these tearful walls
If you have time in the morning, be sure to check out CNET's The 404 Podcast every day at 8 a.m. PT on CNET LIVE; that way you won't miss things like yesterday's post-show, where the three of us spent half an hour reminiscing about the glory days of ABC's classic TGIF programming lineup.
All of us connected to legacy sitcoms like "Full House," "Perfect Strangers," and "Boy Meets World," but join us this morning as we belt out a pitch-poor version of the "Family Matters" theme song, the lyrics of which inspired today's show title.
Facebook has just reached the 500-million-user mark after offering services to the general public just a few years ago. Since its inception, the site has seen over 30 billion posted photos and 700 billion collective minutes spent on the site. To put it into perspective, if Facebook were a country it would be the third largest in the world just behind China and India.
At this rate, FB fully expects to reach the 1 billion user mark in just a few short years, and this is one instance where size certainly matters. Analysts estimate its worth to be 25 billion dollars, with each user contributing $50 credits to the site's overall value. Of course, you haven't made it in America until you get the animated treatment, and Facebook will truly enter the modern zeitgeist with founder Mark Zuckerberg making an appearance in an upcoming episode of "The Simpsons." Zuckerberg will voice himself and "poke" fun at struggling entrepreneurs.
As you might have heard, since Wilson is about 1 for 30 in predicting the future, we're replacing him every Friday with a NEW segment we're calling JUSTITUTION. It's our version of "Ask a Podcaster," and although I'm no Love Guru, I'll do my best to answer your most private questions about relationships and intimacy...also, Wilson and Jeff both have girlfriends (and fiancees!), so I pretty much have to step up to the plate. Today's question comes from CELL5000 in the chat room, who asks about a "stage 5 clinger." Tune in to hear more!
Finally, don't forget about our ongoing Blackberry partnership that lets us get in touch with you directly from our Blackberry smartphone. If you have one, all you have to do is add our PIN number at 2482F452. Jeff has the phone this weekend, so we apologize in advance for any insulting remarks--in no way do they represent the views of The 404 Podcast.
