We all scream for ice cream
It's starting to warm up around here, and I'm getting a real craving for ice cream. I've been looking at ice-cream recipes, and it looks as if I have just about everything I need to make up a quick cone of my own. Milk, sugar, vanilla--I've got it all. But I think I need some help getting from the ingredients to the stuff that tastes good in a cone.
That's where Cuisinart's ice-cream maker comes in. Named the "Pure Indulgence," this dream of a machine is automatic. You pour in the ingredients, turn it on, and come back in 25 minutes with a spoon. It even makes enough ice cream to share with a couple of close friends, if you can be persuaded to share. Two quarts goes a pretty long way. For those of us less interested in sharing, Cuisinart does make a half-quart model. The difference in size isn't huge, but the price drops from $79.95 to $49.95.
The only thing the machine doesn't do is clean itself, but the ice cream doesn't touch much more than the bowl and a mixing paddle, which can be cleaned easily--assuming you haven't already licked them clean. And any leftover ice cream can be piled into a container and put in the freezer for later.
