Kenwood Cooking Chef stirs the pot

I've frequently expounded on the virtues of stand mixers: they have a wide assortment of attachments that are able to handle many kitchen chores. From pasta attachments to meat grinders, this one kitchen appliance churns through daily and not-so-daily tasks. However, for all the convenience these devices offer, there is one feature that I have not come across: the ability to actually cook a meal. Until now.

Combining food prep and induction cooking, the Kenwood Cooking Chef is a stand mixer like no other. The 1,500-watt mixer works in tandem with the 1,100-watt induction burner, allowing for food to be cooked while constantly being stirred in the 6.7-liter work bowl. The temperature is variable from 20 degrees C to 140 degrees C and a stable of attachments are available for different tasks.

With specialized tools and attachments (including a food processor, a blender, and a steamer), the Cooking Chef is sure to be a handy tool in the kitchen. While it would seem this appliance is only available in the U.K. for now, I can't imagine the concept not drifting across the pond. The ability to cook and mix at the same time is sure to lead to some innovative recipes. At the very least the time-saving aspect of this device is appealing. It steams, it cooks, it blends, it mixes, and it chops, slices, and dices. The only question that remains is when can I get one here?
