Good news, good news! At CTIA, smartphone manufacturer HTC announced that it will offer the HTC Touch Dual through Best Buy stores this quarter. And the news gets even better, as the unlocked quad-band smartphone will ship with Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Edition and wait for it...it will include support for U.S. 3G bands.

Already available in Europe and Asia (of course), the HTC Touch Dual is the next-generation of the HTC Touch, and alleviates some of the text entry pains of the original Touch by providing a slide-out SureType-like keypad. You'll also still get the TouchFLO interface as well as Bluetooth 2.0 and a 2-megapixel camera. HTC said final pricing has not been set.

Great news!!! Am in the market for a smartphone...and have been researching HTC Touch. Am wondering if Sprint/Nextel will be carrying this "second" gen HTC touch?

Great News!!! just the type phone I have been waiting for.........but only if it has the 20 - key Sure Type keypad, otherwise I wait for the Sony Xperia X1.

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but this is ********. I just checked out HTC's site: http://www.htc.com/www/product_gallery.aspx?FolderID=40. The "keyboard" is really just a Blackberry-style keypad - NOT a full keyboard. Perhaps the Crackberry addicts will find it appealing - not me. I'd rather just use the virtual keyboard, even without tactile feedback. But, for that matter, I'd really just rather have the iPhone - and I am NOT an apple fan, by any means.

This is the thing with HTC; they always do this - so close, but no cigar.

How do you propose they put a full keyboard in the sliding factor they have chosen? It wouldn't fit. It would have to be come sliding like the Kaiser (Tilt, TyTN II), which they already have. Also, with the Touch series, HTC seems to be focusing on devices that can be used with one hand and the SureType keyboard is one way to achieve that goal. I use CooTek's TouchPal Pro, which is a SIP that uses they SureType keyboard on my AT&T Tilt and find it easy and convenient.

The only thing that prevents me from purchasing the Touch Dual is the lack of built-in GPS.

guys guys, dont get too excited ive used this phone here in the uk, and its CRAP, very slow with a terrible tiny keyboard....good luck.

I wonder why T-Mobile did not add this phone to their line of phones. This looks better than the HTC/T-Mobile Shadow. The only way to get the phone is thru Best Buy unlocked. I wonder, how much will it cost if purchased from Best Buy.
