Best ergonomic monitors

When shopping for a new monitor, degrees of swivel, tilt, and pivot aren't usually at the top of the wish list. But ergonomic options are important for the comfort and placement of your work space. Some monitors are designed with no options for adjusting your physical viewing experience, and an inefficient monitor setup can result in bad posture, eye strain, and other physical discomfort.

Whether you use your monitor for work or play, these models are chock-full of ergonomic features to maximize productivity by reducing fatigue and discomfort. Make sure to click on the photos of each monitor to see a demonstration of how they work. … Read more

Dell UltraSharp U2412m review: Filled to the rim with value

The Dell UltraSharp U2412m trades in the series' staple, the H-IPS panel, for a cheaper and lower-performing E-IPS panel.

I'll admit to being a bit disappointed when I learned Dell went with a cheaper panel. However, what this enables it to do is offer a monitor full of ergonomic features, a fully stocked OSD, and--despite its less-than-stellar viewing angles--excellent performance at a great price.

The full review has always been waiting for you. You just needed to believe in yourself first in order to see it.

Dell's UltraSharp U3011 packs in the features (review)

Usually, 30-inch monitors are nothing to write home about. Sure, they're incredibly large and include a super-high 2560x1600 resolution, giving them copious amounts of screen real estate, but only a scant few include any calibration options beyond brightness. Also, most include only one or two different connection types.

The Dell UltraSharp U3011 is a different beast altogether.

The 30-inch Dell bucks the "high on performance, low on features" trend 30-inch monitors have reflected for years.

Not only does the Dell include more connection options than most other monitors, regardless of screen size, but it also allows for … Read more

Dell's U2711 monitor straddles perfection

LAS VEGAS--A few weeks ago we reviewed the Dell UltraSharp U2410, and while its performance was great, there were a couple of issues that kept it from setting the world afire.

On Thursday at CES, Dell unveiled its new 27-inch UltraSharp U2711. While its design is heavily based on the U2410, there are a few key changes that elevate the U2711 above Dell's previous great, but flawed, offering.

First up is the U2711's superhigh 2,560x1,440-pixel resolution. It's the first monitor we've reviewed with a sub-30-inch screen with a resolution that high. Most 27-inchers we'… Read more

Review: Newsflash, the Dell U2410 isn't perfect!

I've been looking forward to the Dell UltraSharp U2410 with as much (or more) anticipation as some of our most fervent readers.

I feel a lot of monitor enthusiasts were expecting perfection from this monitor, so I'll get this out of the way right now: It's not perfect.

This may seem more disappointing than with other monitors, but that's mostly because of the super high expectations the U2410 had prerelease.

The monitor includes a H-IPS panel, one of the newer iterations of IPS panel technology and one that I have little hands-on experience with. Some of … Read more

NEC's S-PVA monitor shows its true (and accurate) colors

You gotta love a good Super Patterned Vertical Alignment (S-PVA)-based display, don't you? Well, you're obviously not required to love them, but with their deep blacks, good viewing angles, and, for the most part, accurate colors, they certainly make it difficult to dislike them.

Case in point: the NEC MultiSync P221W is a 22-inch, $390 S-PVA display that includes the aforementioned perks of most S-PVAs.

A monitor needs to have more than just great performance, however, to justify its price. Extra features and connection options can work wonders toward a monitor's overall worth. With Dell recently … Read more

Dell sneaks out new 24-inch IPS monitor

The Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP is the highest-rated monitor I've yet reviewed. It's also the most popular monitor I've reviewed, as it's constantly in the top five most viewed monitors and is many times, No. 1.

On Monday Dell started selling what some are seeing as the successor to the UltraSharp 2408WFP, the UltraSharp U2410.

The new monitor keeps the 16:10 aspect ratio of the 2408WFP, with a 1,900x1,200 resolution. While the 2408WFP got its wide viewing angles and color fidelity from a S-PVA panel, the U2410 utilizes an IPS panel to (hopefully) do … Read more

HP LP3065: 30 inches of pure silicon, with a carrying handle

Finally, a 30-incher has come back to C...NET. Yes, I'm a "Rock" fan and yes that is a loooong throwback to a bygone era, but it seemed appropriate.

Last week we got in the HP LP3065 30-incher. Now I know it's been out for a while, but I've gotten a few recent requests to review it. After the Samsung 305T, the Gateway XHD3000 and the Dell UltraSharp 3008WFP it's one of the only 30-inchers I haven't reviewed.

Check out the pics and video below to get a glimpse and look for a … Read more
