Heads Up livens up the party

Heads Up is a trivia-style party game that was recently featured (and played) on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. With the game installed on just one iPhone, you can challenge a friend or several friends to a trivia competition. While you won't have much fun alone with Heads Up, it might be the perfect app for livening up a dinner party or family event.

The way it works is, you pick a trivia category from one of seven themed decks of "cards." These aren't actually trivia categories in the traditional sense; Heads Up combines trivia with identifying … Read more

Apple store anniversary poster chock-full of trivia

A poster spotted in the back of one of Apple's retail stores has provided a number of interesting facts about the company's retail efforts, which turned 10 years old last month.

MacRumors, which snagged the photo from a source, has shared an image of it (right), along with a full transcription of its text. Some of the more interesting bits include:

The best Jack since Bauer...is back.

I'm talking, of course, about You Don't Know Jack, the hilarious PC (though not always "PC") trivia game that debuted way back in 1995. It spawned all kinds of sequels, but has been AWOL for over a decade.

That changed a few months ago, when YDKJ came roaring back for Windows and game consoles. And today, I'm giddy to report, Jack has hit the App Store. The verdict? It is, without question, the best iOS trivia game to date.

For those unfamiliar with the series, YDKJ plays like … Read more

TriviaBurst brings competitive trivia to iPhone

Calling all trivia buffs: if you're looking for one of those cool multiplayer trivia games like they have in bars, where you get to square off against other players (and even other bars) in real-time competition, well, TriviaBurst isn't it.

Though the game promises "group challenges" and Facebook connectivity, it's very much a single-player exercise.

I'm not saying it's not fun, but rather that it's a bit disappointing--and definitely a little buggy.

TriviaBurst offers more than 5,500 questions across three major categories and about a dozen subcategories. You can also submit … Read more
