Power users now have another option for their home Wi-Fi networks.

Trendnet announced today the availability of the AC1750 Dual Band Wireless Router (model TEW-812DRU). This router was first showcased at CES 2013 and is the first from Trendnet to support the new 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard.

LAS VEGAS--If you are looking to upgrade your existing computer to support 802.11ac, without having to get a new computer entirely, here's something to look forward to.

Trendnet announced today at CES 2013 its first USB 3.0 802.11ac W-Fi adapter, the AC1200 Dual Band Wireless USB 3.0 adapter, model TEW-805UB.

This adapter card supports the dual-stream setup Wi-Fi standard and offers the cap speed of up to 867Mbps, when used with a 802.11ac router. It also works with existing Wireless-N routers and offers up to 300Mbps data rate in this case.

Trendnet's AC1750 Dual Band Wireless router (model TEW-812DRU) is a major upgrade from the company's previous TEW-692GR, and the first 802.11ac-enabled router from Trendnet.

In my testing, the device offered excellent Wi-Fi performance and was easy to use. Its only minor shortcomings are the lack of a wall-mount option and its slow storage performance when using a plugged-in USB external hard drive.

LAS VEGAS--Today at CES 2013, Trendnet significantly shrank the Powerline 500 AV adapter with the introduction of the Nano Adapter with Built-in Outlet, model TPL-407E.

As the name suggests the new adapter is supercompact yet comes with a built-in pass-through receptacles for users to plug another device to the same wall socket that it occupies.

Trendnet, a vendor of affordable and green networking products, announced today the first 802.11ac networking products to be showcased at CES 2012.

As introduced by networking chip-maker, Broadcom, recently, the 802.11ac wireless standard is the next generation of the 802.11 wireless technology with the 802.11n (or wireless N) currently being the mainstream. If you want to hook your Ethernet-ready devices to a wireless network, you can either get the D-Link DAP-1513, or you can wait for what Trendnet unveiled today, the 450Mbps Dual Band Wireless N Media Bridge, model TEW-680MB.

This new device shares the same design as the company's previous single-band 450Mbps Wireless-N gaming adapter, the TEW-687GA, but the TEW-680MB also supports the 5GHz frequency band.

Like other media bridge devices, the TEW-680MB connects itself to an existing Wireless-N network, on either the 2.4GHz band or the 5GHz band, and bridges that connection to a wired device plugged into its Ethernet port.

Unlike the D-Link DAP-1513, with its four network ports to handle four devices out of the box, the Trendnet TEW-680MB has only one network port and therefore can bridge the connection to only one device.
