Humor sometimes does not travel well.

Update: 11:30 AM PT Earlier today, the U.S. embassy in Cairo pulled a tweet that managed to annoy Egypt's government. The apparently innocuous link to a "Daily Show" episode from earlier in the week, which tweaked Egypt's government for going after a prominent television critic, had quickly transmogrified into a mini-diplomatic crisis yesterday after Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi's office tweeted a tart response: "It's inappropriate for a diplomatic mission to engage in such negative political propaganda."

Amazon's new original comedy programs might not suck

As a guy blogging for a site owned by a television network (CBS Interactive is the parent company of CNET), count me as both excited and worried about Amazon's lineup of pilots for original comedy series.

So far, the forays into original programming by the likes of Netflix and Hulu and Amazon have been a mixed bag -- Netflix's "Lillyhammer"? Blech. Hulu's "Battleground"? More please.

Comedy Central brings The Daily Show Headlines to Android

For the first time, the Daily Show Headlines app comes to Android, bringing content from Comedy Central's award-winning satirical news program to a swath of additional mobile users.

This means that Android users can now get mobile access to videos of Jon Stewart and "The Best F#@king News Team Ever," up to two weeks after original episodes air. In addition to the clip archive, the app offers a quote generator, guest news, and scheduled alerts to help keep you from missing an episode. Facebook adds 12 media apps to its Timeline roster

Love 'em or hate 'em, Facebook's timeline apps seem to be here to stay.

After news yesterday of Open Graph driving astounding amounts of traffic, Facebook announced today that 12 more media properties would be adding apps to Facebook's timeline.

"As media organizations build new timeline apps, initial results show significant increases in traffic and engagement, while allowing media sites to reach new--often younger--demographics," Facebook Director of Media Partnerships Justin Osofsky said in a statement.

The 404 531: Where we meet Alison Rosen's mother (podcast)

Today's show title is a little deceptive, and we should be clear that Alison Rosen's mother does not make an appearance on this episode, but Alison's all we need anyway because she's the future of television! We're excited to have her back after a long hiatus, and she updates us on everything going on in her life, including ALISON ROSEN IS YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND, a new weekly interactive show on Ustream that features guests like Michael Showalter and Andrew W.K., in addition to an upcoming segment where Alison will explore the world of online dating.
