Sleep Talk Recorder is designed to record you as you sleep so you can listen back and hear what you were saying. The idea is enticing, but the execution here is messy in a number of ways and can lead to issues, either during recording or before and afterwards. From an overabundance of ads to a convoluted menu screen and interface, there are better options if you really want to record yourself while sleeping.
The core functionality of Sleep Talk Recorder is actually very straightforward. Tap the record button and it will start recording. During our tests it did not … Read more
A lawsuit seeking class action over alleged defects in the design of Apple's iPhone 4 and 4S has been dismissed.
That suit, filed against both Apple and AT&T back in May, accused Apple of designing a faulty power button on the iPhone 4 and 4S that would stop functioning after extended use, and could be hazardous as a result. The complaint also alleged that Apple knew about the issue, which would typically occur after the company's warranty expired, but not before a two-year mobile carrier contract was up.
In a ruling on Wednesday, US District Judge … Read more

Starting September 1, Pandora's 40-hour limit on mobile devices comes to an end, which means you can now choose to fall asleep to Pandora at night without worrying about a limit. However, if you're not one of the lucky few who still have an unlimited data plan on your mobile device, you probably don't want Pandora streaming all night long, eating away the precious data on your tiered plan and sucking your battery dry before your morning alarm goes off.
I don't know about you, but I occasionally scream in the middle of the night.
Often, I'm being attacked by fire-snorting administrative assistants who are wearing unflattering red shoes and sending cyberstalking messages that read: "Why aren't you dead yet, punk?!"
Despite such night terrors, I haven't ever texted in the middle of the night for help. But it seems to be the new, new thing.
Earlier this year, Philadelphia nursing professor Elizabeth Dowdell worried that teens were now LOLing while they slept.
But teens do all sorts of crazy things out of which they ultimately grow. However, now a New York doctor, sleep expert Dr. Josh Werber, reveals that sleep-texting is spreading to even those with fully-developed faculties.
In a quite painful report published Wednesday, CBS New York interviewed Werber, as well as a couple of women who sometimes wake in the morning, to see that their sleep has been punctuated by messaging.… Read more
Carrot Alarm is a hilarious alarm clock for your iPhone that sometimes sings to you when it wakes you up, gets mad at you when you sleep in, and forces you to complete silly minigames in order to turn it off. Developed by the same people who made Carrot To-Do List (the to-do list with an attitude), Carrot Alarm is a fun addition to the otherwise mundane alarm clock app category.
Like any alarm clock, you first need to set the alarm for when you want to get up. Carrot Alarm sports an elegant minimalist interface requiring only that you … Read more
When waking your Mac from sleep, either by opening the lid, or tapping a key on the keyboard, the system should resume where it left off. Your applications, documents, and other services should be close to immediately accessible once displayed on screen and continue working as if no interruption occurred; however, in some instances people may see a slightly washed-out view of their desktop with a small progress bar appearing, which may take a minute or longer to complete before the system can be used.
This behavior is the system waking from its "safe sleep" or hibernation mode, … Read more
PleaseSleep for Mac prevents open applications from holding up a computer's sleep settings. The application is easy to set up and works well to allow the energy saver setting to be followed.
After installation, the free program adds a small icon to the top menu bar. The application also alerts the user that the screensaver, depending on the settings, can interfere with the program's operation. It then asks if the user wants to go to the preferences menu to disable the saver, which can be done with a button in the program window. There are no full menus … Read more
Believe or not, the plurality of men in the U.K. rank Internet access as valuable as sex and even more important than food and shelter.
That's right, 42 percent of male respondents in a new survey by broadband provider TP-Link throw food, shelter, and sleep to the wind, while saluting Internet access as one of life's most cherished needs. In fact, 50 percent of people say they dedicate more time to the Internet than sleep.
"As our recent research shows, in the current increasingly digital world, quick and easy connectivity is one of the main concerns … Read more
