Donkey Jump soars

Donkey Jump is a vertically scrolling platform-jumping game very similar to another popular mobile hit, Doodle Jump. In Donkey Jump, your character, a spitting image of Donkey from Shrek, keeps jumping automatically, while your job is to tilt your device to maneuver him onto clouds. The higher you go, the more points you accumulate. Miss a platform, and you'll have to start all over.

As with Doodle Jump, we enjoy the simplicity of Donkey Jump's controls. It's easy to learn and easy to pick up on a whim, even when you only have a couple minutes of … Read more

iPhone game sale part 2: Gameloft titles for 99 cents

I love a good price war! Earlier this week, Barnes & Noble took on Amazon, slashing its Nook e-book reader to $199 and prompting Amazon to cut the Kindle to $189.

Tuesday, Electronic Arts launched a 48-hour app sale (ending Wednesday night) that dropped 14 of its most popular iPhone/iPod games to 99 cents each.

Not to be outdone, developer Gameloft just fired back with a 99-cent sale on seven of its top titles--all of which usually sell for $4.99. Here's the list:

Shrek challenges Crash Bandicoot for karting crown

Ever since Mario traded his running shoes for a four-wheeler, go-kart games have been a console staple.

Witness Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D for the iPhone, which debuted in 2008 (shortly after the App Store launched) and has been a top seller ever since.

Now comes Gameloft's Shrek Kart, which casts everybody's favorite ogre in the Mario/Crash role for some fairy-tale-themed fun.

Actually, you can race as Shrek, Donkey, Fiona, Puss in Boots, or any of 10 movie characters--each with his or her own vehicle and special ability. (Shrek, for example, can "break wind" to … Read more

The 404 358: Where Jeff has connectile dysfunction

Natali Del Conte makes her triumphant return from E3 and joins us on today's show. After suffering through two years with an HTC Mogul, Jeff finally upgraded to the Palm Pre this weekend. Tune in for Jeff's personal review as well as some unfortunate news that has us all reeling...with laughter.

All right, first thing's first: NATALI DEL CONTE. That should be enough to get you guys to listen to today's show. She's finally back from her Tour de California. She was actually at E3 this past week and she gives us the scoop on her first impressions of the event. Actually, it turns out that Natali's been taking some gulps of Jeff's unique brand of Haterade! It's always a pleasure to welcome Natali back to the show, even though she's crossed over the dark side. Welcome home, girl!

We've been talking about the Palm Pre ad nauseam for weeks now leading up to Saturday's release, and Jeff actually woke himself up before the crack of dawn and picked one up. Be sure to listen to the whole episode to hear about the fiasco that happened in line, it's unbelievable, and kind of funny. Pix or it didn't happen, Bakalar! After all that happened, Jeff successfully picked up a Palm Pre, and he loves it! All his contacts from Facebook, Gmail, etc...are now consolidated; music transfers are easy thanks to iTunes (fingers crossed that Apple shows mercy); and the keyboard is surprisingly easy for Jeff's ham shank fingers. Sadly, though, there's one very significant, deal-breaking, horrendous manufacturer's error that needs to be correctly immediately before Jeff turns back into a pumpkin and we lose him forever. Tune in to hear more about this awful glitch and how you can fix the problem!
