YouTube has a new design that puts a greater focus on subscriptions and channels. YouTube hopes it will get more users to stay on the site longer by flipping through channels -- similar to how folks lose themselves while browsing television stations.

Facebook tries to get some love for Friendship Pages

Facebook today revamped its Friendship Pages, a little-known feature that's suppose to take you on a trip down memory lane with any of your Facebook friends.

The social network may be using the redesign to bring more attention to the feature. The idea, the fruit of a hackathon, was rolled out about a year ago. The pages exist for each relationship you have and shows any posts, photos, and events that you and another person have shared.

Facebook looking into a slimmer, trimmer Timeline layout

Facebook is testing out a new, slimmer Timeline layout featuring a single column of posts instead of the current double column. The test layout keeps the boxes that highlight friends and activities to the right.

The social network is currently rolling out the test, first noticed by Inside Facebook, to a small number of users.

LinkedIn promises simplified profile-editing tools and easier ways to connect to other users with its new profile page redesign.

The new, more visual profile layout is meant to simplify the user experience and make it more useful daily, said Deep Nishar, senior vice president of products and user experience at LinkedIn. "We want to ensure that LinkedIn is working for our members -- even when they're not online," he said.

Meet the 'new eBay'

EBay today introduced some new features for its auction site, including a redesign centered around personalization and an app for same-day delivery service.

eBay revamps its logo after 17 years

It's about time, some might say. eBay announced today that after 17 years it has decided to update its logo.

Dropping the off-kilter lettering and 1990s font, the site's logo will now have a sleeker, slimmer look with its letters in a single-file row. The color scheme is staying the same, however.

Hulu rolls out new design, with focus on content discovery

Streaming video site Hulu launched a redesigned Web site this evening that replaces its traditional grid with larger images and focuses more on personalization.

The changes, which it hopes will improve content discovery, include a browse button and a "Staff Picks" list that highlights titles users may have missed. Users will also find recommendations based on their viewing history.
